This Saturday, as part of Matchday 8 of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain (2nd) take on Strasbourg (7th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off 9pm, broadcast on DAZN in France). Ahead of the match, the press tried to guess the team that will be fielded by Paris coach Luis Enrique.
Le Parisien (4-3-3) –
Barcola – Asensio – Lee
Neves – Vitinha – Doué
Mendes – Beraldo – Skriniar – Zaïre-Emery
Donnarumma.
L’Equipe (4-3-3) –
Barcola – Asensio – Lee
Neves – Vitinha – Ruiz
Mendes – Beraldo – Skriniar – Zaire-Emery
Donnarumma.
Given the squad, every team seems possible (and they’re all very close) without any certainties. We’ve seen that the press has no particular information about Luis Enrique’s choices. He knows how to surprise newspapers, fans and opponents alike.
We suspect that the coach chooses what he thinks is best in order to impose himself, with a detailed analysis of the other team that we don’t have. There’s also the difficulty of coming out of the international break with different states of fitness in the squad, with points that only the staff know about.
The Champions League also kicks off on Tuesday, against PSV Eindhoven, which may also have a bearing on the management of playing time. Even if Luis Enrique obviously repeats that the most important thing is the match against Strasbourg, which must of course be won.
Doué could be given a chance in midfield, although he has so far struggled to express himself on the flanks at PSG. But Ruiz could also make his mark. We’re more surprised to see Lee, who played the 2 matches with Korea and travelled a lot. Doué could end up as a winger, or Ousmane Dembélé could play.
