Désiré Doué, the 20-year-old midfielder/forward for Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to M6 about the 2025-2026 Champions League final against Arsenal on Saturday, May 30th. He also discussed the French national team.
Doué: “We know we have the ability to win this final.”
You’re going to play in your second consecutive Champions League final. Is there still pressure, or does it become just another match?
It’s simply magnificent to have this opportunity. Many players and teams don’t even get to play in a Champions League final; two in a row is even more special. Today, we have this chance, and I think we deserve it.
We’ve shown some great things throughout these two seasons. We know we have the ability to win this final. Especially against a very good Arsenal team.
Doué “We want to go after all the trophies again.”
How do you handle winning the Champions League?
There’s a phase where you think, “Wow, I won the Champions League, it’s magnificent!” But the greatest champions, whether in football or other sports, when they win a trophy, they want to win it again. I’m sure the whole team has the same mentality; we want to go after all the trophies again. We want to make history, to truly become legends.
Doué “I know that I have, and that we have, the ability to go after the big trophies.”
Being named man of the match in the final, was that a dream moment?
Yes, every time I think about it, I’m very happy. Personally, it hasn’t really changed me; it hasn’t changed my daily life, my perspective. I know that I have, and that we have, the ability to win major trophies.
Fourth most popular player on the French national team according to polls?
It’s incredibly gratifying to know that the French people support and appreciate me. Playing for the French national team has always been a dream of mine; I’m here now, and I’m going to fight for my country. It’s a huge source of pride. I will always give my all for France.
Doué: “It’s very important to be respectful to everyone.”
You’re quite discreet; is it important what you project on and off the field?
In life, that’s what my parents instilled in me; it’s about upbringing. It’s essential. It’s very important to be respectful to everyone. I try to be myself, not to play a role. I try to be honest with my emotions, with what I convey on and off the field. I’ve never been someone who likes to talk for long periods in front of cameras. But when I have to, I know how to do it.
