AS Monaco coach Sébastien Pocognoli held a press conference after the 3-2 victory at Lens on Saturday in Matchday 23 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. He was asked to consider the possibility of a relegation playoff (after a 3-2 defeat in the first leg) against Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 9 pm, CET).
Pocognoli: “The mission is difficult, but it’s not impossible.”
“Look, coming here and doing what we did today against the league leaders, in this stadium, with the fans and a really great team, with so much quality—we saw that at times during the match—it has to give us a lot of positive energy for the next game.
It’s the Champions League, it’s a different context. We’re going to the home of the reigning European champions. They have a one-goal advantage. The task is difficult, but it’s not impossible. And for that, we need to be united, to be one with our supporters at the Parc des Princes, and to truly believe. It’s possible. We did it today, so why not? In football, there are often positive things that can be repeated.”
