On Friday at Roazhon Park, Paris Saint-Germain lost 3-1 to Rennes during the 22nd matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. Here are the ratings given by Le Parisien and L’Équipe to the capital’s players.

Contents
Le Parisien :L’Equipe :

Le Parisien :

Kvaratskhelia (3) – Dembélé (4) – Doué (3)

Neves (3) – Vitinha (4) – Zaïre-Emery (4)

Nuno Mendes (3) – Pacho (3) – Zabarnyi (2) – Hakimi (3)

Safonov (3)

L’Equipe :

Luis Enrique  – 4

Kvaratskhelia (4) – Dembélé (5) – Doué (3)

Neves (4) – Vitinha (4) – Zaïre-Emery (4)

Nuno Mendes (4) – Pacho (3) – Zabarnyi (4) – Hakimi (5)

Safonov (4)

It’s not surprising to see such low ratings. Even though PSG generally dominated the match and were more clinical, and could have easily won, we can’t ignore the glaring shortcomings. Firstly, there’s a noticeable lack of teamwork and desire to win. Several players seem to be trying to single-handedly change the game. Secondly, there’s a lack of clinical finishing. They’re missing the ruthless edge we saw last year. The team is sluggish offensively, often starting from too deep (when building from the back).

In this match, the defense was leaking goals at times, with Pacho and Nuno Mendes having one of their worst games of the season. The midfield was completely out of sorts, with Vitinha playing too deep, Zaïre-Emery not influential enough in the attacking transition, and Neves rather clumsy on the pitch. Finally, the attack suffers from a fundamental problem in this type of match. Doué couldn’t get it right, he was stubborn, Dembélé didn’t have the same attitude as against Marseille, and Kvaratskhelia wasn’t the worst player, but like Dembélé, he didn’t have the same spark as on big nights.

Barcola, Ramos, Dro, and Lee didn’t contribute enough when they came on, and all of this makes for an explosive mix: PSG didn’t win, and the defeat leaves a bad impression, even though the performance wasn’t always as bad as the scoreline suggests. However, in football, the difference is also made in the details, and if there’s a defeat, it’s because things didn’t go right.
