Paris Saint-Germain kicked off Matchday 22 of Ligue 1 with a trip to Roazhon Park to face Stade Rennais FC. Despite a dominant performance from the Parisians, marked by a lack of clinical finishing and some superb saves from their goalkeeper, it was the Bretons who emerged victorious 3-1, ending the capital club’s winning streak. SRFC’s 31-year-old goalkeeper, Brice Samba, spoke to Ligue 1+ about their impressive performance:
Samba: “I’m very proud of what we did as a team.”
“Almost impenetrable, how did you experience this match?”
“No, it’s a small personal victory, compared to last week and things that didn’t go well.” Tonight, everything went well. The best response is on the pitch, and tonight I’m very proud of what we did as a team. We all know the quality of this Paris team, and they came with their strongest lineup, so they wanted to wrap up the game. We were solid, and that bodes very well for the future.
Was it important to show a different side of yourself?
Yes, everyone gave it their all tonight. When we play like that, we’re very difficult to beat. We knew it, but we had to remind ourselves of it often enough. But we need to do less than tonight.
