This Saturday, as part of the 27th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain faced Saint-Etienne at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu struggled to get into the rhythm, they finally won 1-6. Here are our notes on the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Matvey Safonov (6) – Didn’t have much to do in the first half, taking a goal where he couldn’t do much better. Not troubled in the second half.
Defenders –
Joao Neves (6.5) – Not his best first half. Fought hard. A much better second half punctuated by a fine goal.
Willian Pacho (7) – Surely the best Parisian in the first half. A good game from him. Replaced in the 64th minute by Nuno Mendes.
Lucas Beraldo (5) – Good at relaunching the team, he was sometimes shaky in duels and made too many mistakes. Overall, however, he was solid enough for Ligue 1. Replaced by Presnel Kimpembe in the 78th minute.
Luacas Hernandez (5) – He’s not there at all, he can’t accelerate. He’s a long way from making a 100% comeback. A better second half and more playing time will do him good.
Midfielders –
Warren Zaïre-Emery (5) – A neutral half for him. He hurt his ankle. Replaced by Vitinha in the 57th minute.
Fabian Ruiz (6) – Too much garbage in the first half, passing, shooting, he missed everything. Fortunately, he was there to recover the ball and organize the initial relays. His second half was much better, and we finally saw the player we want to see.
Désiré Doué (7) – He’s got the ball, but in the first half he didn’t manage to sublimate his actions. We expect him to be a little more attacking. His second half performance and two goals underlined his class.
Forwards –
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (6) – Struggled in the first half. Didn’t make any real difference offensively. He’s the driving force behind the team. Scored a fine goal. Replaced in the 64th minute by Ousmane Dembélé.
Gonçalo Ramos (6) – It’s a good thing he got his penalty, because on the previous occasion, he missed an opportunity he should never miss. It’s up to him to be more of a killer. Replaced in the 78th minute by Ibrahim Mbaye.
Bradley Barcola (6) – A fast runner, but that was about it in the first half. We’d like him to be less of a dilettante. Better and more incisive in the second half.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (7) – Once again, what he said at half-time got his team back on track. He just can’t stop winning with this PSG, even on a night when his men were average half the time.
