Last Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain’s trip to Angers (a 3-0 victory) for Matchday 31 of Ligue 1 was sadly marred by violence between Parisian supporters en route. This incident prompted the Collectif Ultras Paris to sanction one of its groups, expelling it for the remainder of the season. This was reported by RMC Sport on Monday.
“A further review will be conducted this summer.”
“According to our information, the Parias Cohortis group has been excluded from the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) until the end of the season. This group has been identified as being responsible for Saturday’s clash on the way to the match in Angers.
The season tickets of its members have been suspended. There are currently two main conditions for this group to be allowed to return: that its violent members be removed and that its position in the Auteuil stand be changed. This decision was made in agreement with the CUP. A further review will be conducted this summer.”
The door is not completely closed, but changes will logically be necessary for the group to regain its place within the Collectif Ultras Paris and at the Parc des Princes. The latter has already experienced too much violence in its history and cannot tolerate any resurgence of it. Let’s hope that the problems will be resolved quickly to restore calm. There is no place for this kind of tension in football, or in football in general.
