Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match. We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Friday against Auxerre (8th) at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps as part of Matchday 14 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 9pm, Auxerre/PSG broadcast on DAZN in France).
5. The weekend is tonight.
We don’t want to exaggerate, but soccer is life. So when our favorite team loses, the next few days are complicated. This evening will set the tone for the weekend, and let’s hope it’s not spoiled.
4. Luis Enrique’s strong choices?
The Paris coach says it regularly: his choices show his opinion, even though he doesn’t want to reveal too much in press conferences. And competition is as much about matches as it is about training. So, could there be a surprise, an opportunity, a “sanction”? We’re still waiting impatiently for the line-up.
3. A confidence-boosting attack.
Despite the criticisms of some who dismiss the “details”, PSG have regularly shown great things in the game. But they are clearly lacking in efficiency with their numerous chances created. We need to click and get into a good rhythm before a series of important matches. We hope that this evening will enable the Parisian attack to get back on track. A good show?
2. A clash of styles.
PSG are particularly fond of possession, while Auxerre are not in the habit of having it. So it could be very dramatic tonight. These are two different styles of soccer (with different means of course). But it’s an opportunity to see the advantages and disadvantages of each. Why not take notes?
1. A response to the negative atmosphere.
Since last Saturday, or even the Tuesday before, the fashion around PSG has been for negative rumours, drama and criticism… leaving aside anything that might have been successful. Apart from the attack, we’re generally hoping for a group, a team response. That would do us a world of good.
