Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Sunday against Olympique Lyonnais (6th) at Groupama Stadium as part of Matchday 23 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 9.05pm, UTC+1).
5 – Great tension between presidents.
We already knew that things were tense between Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and John Textor, presidents of PSG and OL. The latest revelations in Complément d’Enquête show just how difficult it is for them to communicate. It’s a little extra spice in this match, which is gaining in importance.
4 – Confirm again.
That’s the life of sport, and even more so at the top level, where past performances are somewhat erased by those to come. PSG has achieved some great things recently, and we need to repeat them if we are to have a successful season. And there’s still a long way to go. So we’re looking forward to this new encounter, and hoping to see the Parisians as determined as ever. There’s no reason why their collective strength should suddenly disappear.
3 – Kvaratskhelia ready for more?
Khvicha Kvaratkshelia, the 24-year-old striker who arrived at PSG this winter, logically needs time to adapt. There was a feeling of improvement against Brest in the Champions League on Wednesday, but we still need to confirm it and make further progress. We hope this will be the case for this match, even if we don’t know if he’ll be starting.
2 – Ramos, a confirmation?
Gonçalo Ramos (23-year-old striker) also struggled a little, but made a fine debut against Brest with 1 goal and 1 assist. We’d already seen how interesting he was, but he lacked a little confirmation afterwards to fully assert himself. Let’s hope this time it’s the right one.
1 – A match that promises to be a spectacle.
Between Lyon and PSG, there’s always plenty of pace and spectacle. This season, both sides have a lot to offer in terms of attack, with Lyon’s defence having a number of weaknesses (notably in transition) that Paris could well exploit.
Not to mention the rivalry that has developed between the clubs, which adds a little spice. The Lyonnais tend to deploy a great deal of energy when hosting the Parisians, so it should be another intense match. Normally, PSG will be ready.
