Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Wednesday against Brest at the Parc des Princes as part of the Champions League 2024-2025 play-offs (kick-off 9pm, UTC+1, and 0-3 first leg).
5 – Make the most of this period.
PSG are winning one victory after another at the moment, with a real collective effort in both play and defence, as well as relative efficiency. There’s every reason to be optimistic for the future, but we also know that there are more complicated moments in soccer, and perhaps a less cheerful moment could arrive. So let’s make the most of the games that are coming up, and enjoy watching this team.
4 – The Champions League.
We shouldn’t forget about PSG/Brest, which is more usual in Ligue 1, but this is the Champions League. It’s hard to miss this very special competition, where the intensity and pace are always different.
3 – Some players have points to score.
It’s been a great season for PSG, but not everything is perfect. There are still areas for improvement, and some players in particular have yet to make their mark. Like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24-year-old striker) or Gonçalo Ramos (23-year-old striker) if they play. We’d also like to see Bradley Barcola (22-year-old striker) confirm his form, and perhaps Fabian Ruiz (28-year-old midfielder) turn a corner.
2 – A spectacular match in sight.
It’s not just the Champions League, it’s also a showdown between Brest and PSG, both of which have a habit of being very intense and spectacular. There are goals, of course (3-1, 2-5 and 0-3), but also a clear desire to set the pace and create. Which is often a pleasure to watch.
Let’s hope this continues in this European match, despite the gap that already exists with the 0-3 first leg. PSG must continue to play, while Brest could be looking to make the most of their Champions League adventure.
1 – Qualification to be secured.
Of course, PSG have a clear lead and should qualify. But it’s not a foregone conclusion, and we can’t afford to miss out. Qualification is not something to be overlooked, or taken for granted. We’ll have to play seriously and earn our place in the last 8 (against Barcelona or Liverpool). So we’re expecting a great European evening.
