This Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 0-1 (video highlights Toulouse/PSG) against Toulouse on Matchday 22 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 at the Stadium. Here we present you with some of the highlights and lowlights of this short-lived victory.
Tops –
A small, controlled victory
There aren’t many top stories to pick out, but if there is one, it’s that in the games where PSG are “less” good, they still win. The slackness is there, but it’s not stopping them from forging ahead. We now await the next stage in this hellish sequence of matches.
Ruiz
He scored, had a good game and was able to get some rest, a fine evening for him. We saw him play fairly well, with a very young midfield to back him up. He exchanged a lot. He’s widely criticized, but we have to admit he’s doing a good job overall. We can expect more, but he’s far from ridiculous.
Beraldo
In contrast to those who had already rated him below average even before the start of the match, we have to point out that this player, not yet fully ready for the highest level, has some fine qualities to polish up. He’s good at positioning, he’s good at heading, he’s very good at restarting, all he lacks is vice and aggression in his duels.
He’ll be criticized for his performance, that’s how it is, but the player seems to be above that, happy to be playing for PSG and ready to grow.
Flops –
Doué
He copies Neymar a lot, which in itself can be a good thing. But when Neymar was doing his thing with the ball, there were often flashes of genius afterwards.
Doué played very nonchalantly throughout the match, too smug in his approach to duels. He needs to put on the blue to become more consistent. He needs to score when he hits the post, or cross for a lone striker.
Kvaratskhelia
Here, there’s no question of knocking a player who’s not ready or yet used to the team’s style. It’s just that, physically, he’s not making much of a difference at the moment.
He’s having trouble fitting in with the team. It’ll happen, don’t worry, but it’s true that he wasn’t very good against Toulouse.
