Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 26-year-old goalkeeper who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 with a contract running until 2026 (following the end of his own at AC Milan), is regularly called into question by fans and observers alike. An extension is currently under discussion, but is still uncertain, despite the Italian’s determination. Speaking to Sky after Italy’s 2-0 victory over Moldova on Monday evening (2-0, 2026 World Cup qualifier), the goalkeeper made a further point.
“My priority is to stay in Paris!
I don’t think there will be any problems in negotiations for an extension”
We know the media, they’ll no doubt continue the rumors with a possible departure being put forward since the extension hasn’t been signed. However, the message from Donnarumma and his agent in recent weeks has been clear: he wants to extend. Then there are the negotiations, possibly slowed down by a very tight fixture schedule.
But the Italian has made it clear here that he doesn’t expect any difficulties. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy, but the optimism is logical today. Above all, we need to let PSG, the agent and the goalkeeper talk things over. A little patience would go a long way, rather than random rumours on a daily basis.
