Ilya Zabarnyi, the 22-year-old central defender from Bournemouth (contract runs until 2029) and Ukraine, has been announced as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s defensive priorities for the mercato. There is even talk of a move being made. Djamel now reports that PSG intend to accelerate their efforts to secure the Ukrainian for the rest of the Club World Cup (Round of 8 this Sunday June 28 at 6pm against Inter Miami).
“The club is now focusing on strengthening its squad by speeding up the arrival of a central defender, with the aim of signing him up for the rest of the competition.
The Zabarnyi dossier is progressing and remains, to date, the top priority.”
Nothing is impossible, there is a new window to recruit and strengthen during the competition. Zabarnyi seems to be a clear target and his arrival could do a world of good in a team where fatigue is taking its toll. Even if starting straight away would not be easy, with barely any time to adapt.
Moreover, we remain cautious. There’s nothing certain here, especially when it comes to the desire to go as fast as possible. PSG has already shown that you have to be patient. How often you have to wait for certainties. But the next few days promise to be intense, at least in terms of rumours.
