On Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 4-0 victory against Vendée Fontenay in the Round of 32 of the 2025-2026 Coupe de France at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Here are the highlights and lowlights of this win.
Highs –
❤️ Désiré Doué, the decisive playmaker
Désiré Doué, the 20-year-old PSG midfielder/forward, displayed impressive skill on Saturday evening. By varying his passes and dribbles, he created numerous opportunities without being overly individualistic. He also contributed a goal and an assist. A great confidence boost before Christmas and encouraging for the future.
Ousmane Dembélé, a welcome performance.
While not as sharp or incisive as in his best days, Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old forward) still delivered a solid performance. He focused on passing, no doubt to avoid a violent effort or fouls. It was a good way to get back on track, with a positive influence and a penalty goal that can only do him good.
Gonçalo Ramos, a rather complete match.
The 24-year-old striker has been struggling lately, so this match will also do wonders for his image and confidence. He contributed well to the game and scored a brace. This is a positive sign for the winter break and what lies ahead.
A number of young players.
In addition to the regulars, Renato Marin (19-year-old goalkeeper), Noham Kamara (18-year-old defender), Mathis Jangeal (17-year-old midfielder), David Boly (16-year-old full-back), and Noah Nsoki (18-year-old forward) were able to participate in the match. It’s interesting to see so many young Parisians, especially since they are showing some promising signs.
Flops –
😡Unfortunate injuries.
Quentin Ndjantou (18-year-old forward) and David Boly (16-year-old right-back) started the match but couldn’t play their full game. Both were injured early on and had to be substituted at halftime, and even earlier in Boly’s case. It’s unfortunate, as this evening presented an opportunity. And it’s not due to an overloaded season. There was bad luck involved, as well as some knocks taken by Boly.
