While Complément d’Enquête, an investigation into Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, has been released, Le Parisien has relayed a passage from Véronique Rabiot, Adrien Rabiot’s mother. After the banner episode during the Classique against OM, as well as relations with the Paris Saint-Germain president, she tells her version of events concerning her son.
Rabiot “He can be downright unpleasant”
“I think I know him well, we met often from 2014 to 2018 (during his son’s time in Paris). He can be friendly, approachable. He can be downright unpleasant.
We had a very good understanding even. He was close to Adrien, I even think he had affection for Adrien,” she continues. There were tensions from 2018 onwards when Adrien wanted to leave. Adrien was put on the back burner because he didn’t want to re-sign (his contract ended in June 2019). He doesn’t take no for an answer. It (how he reacts) can be anger, but it’s mostly war. He told me it would be war. And it has indeed been war.
We know that Al-Khelaïfi doesn’t like it when people say no to him or resist him, let’s not be fooled. However, in a toxic relationship, both parties often play an important role. Rabiot has always received “bad” advice. Often described as a “diva”, it cannot be denied that there was a game going on between Véronique, her son, the club and expectations. The demand for a much higher salary, the positioning that didn’t suit him, and the relative lack of playing time were all areas that posed a problem at one time.
Rabiot “I just didn’t understand the lack of reaction from the soccer authorities”.
Internship in Qatar
I’m asking for him to be released because his grandmother has just died and his father is dying. We knew he was going to die while he was in Qatar.
The banners at the Classic
What I didn’t understand was the lack of reaction from the soccer authorities and the people who were in the basket (the Paris managers). Absolutely not. What really shocks me is to think that the match wasn’t stopped, that the referee didn’t hear anything when everyone else did.
Rabiot “You’re exaggerating here, you can’t put me in trouble with OM”.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi behind all this?
He’s responsible for what happens in his stadium. There are people who can control things, who are under his orders, everyone knows that, I’m not making it up.”
Banners aimed at Rabiot have no place in a stadium. We understand that the player and his family are affected. The Parisian president should have been more present and vigilant with the fans. We can’t let malice get the better of us, and Al-Khelaïfi must also assume his responsibilities.
It should be noted that Véronique Rabiot “has forgotten” that Rabiot was released at the time of his death.
Adrien Rabiot will not participate in the QatarTour for family reasons. The club will not comment publicly on this decision out of respect for his family and loved ones.
“Mathieu Valbuena was violently targeted on his return to the OL jersey in 2015.
You’re exaggerating, you can’t make me feel bad about OM, we’re talking about PSG. I think they (the Paris fans) have been manipulated by the club.”
That said, there’s an intolerable double standard. Véronique Rabiot can take offence at this, it’s logical and sensible, but if the message had been even more sincere, she wouldn’t have denounced only the messages of hatred towards her son, pointing out the laxity of the Parisian manager.
It’s the same thing in every stadium: everyone hears fans being both hateful and insulting, and nobody reacts. At the Parc des Princes, there were reactions from politicians that we’ve never seen in other stadiums. For her message to be credible, she would have had to be fair.
Rabiot “Adrien and I aren’t strong enough”.
Jean-Martial Ribes
I spoke to Jean-Martial very often, I met him very often. If there’s a traitor in the story, it’s him, not me. I used to ask him to join us in discussions, and he was very nice.
Complaint
I’m not walking on eggshells, I’m not afraid of PSG. I know that when it comes to justice, you have to be very careful what you say. And because, as I said, Adrien and I aren’t powerful enough. We only represent ourselves. We can be attacked. It’s the pot of iron against the pot of clay.”
She can play the person who is no match for the ogre Al-Khelaïfi and PSG. This message, conveyed and prepared for further investigation, is symptomatic of an era in which conflict reigns over benevolence. PSG may have it bad, but we also know that the club has not always acted well. Certain players may also have it bad, but their behavior hasn’t always been benevolent.
Because PSG lacks aura, some have wanted to grease their palms in the face of the club’s abundance of riches. Some wanted to apply pressure, because the club lacked the historical weight of other clubs in Europe.
