Vitinha, the 25-year-old midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain and Portugal, spoke to the newspaper O Jogo in an interview published this Thursday, December 25th. He was notably asked to give his opinion on the impressive form of Nuno Mendes, the 23-year-old left-back he plays alongside at PSG and in the national team.
Vitinha: “I love playing with him!”
«I wish him every success, preferably playing alongside him, because I love playing with him! He’s in incredible form right now. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: he’s the best left-back in the world, without a doubt.
And he has the potential to stay that way for many years. He just needs to keep working the same way, because he certainly has the ability.
These are fine words from Vitinha, which Nuno Mendes will undoubtedly appreciate. Especially since there’s no sense that he’s exaggerating simply because he’s speaking to the media. Everything seems quite accurate, even if there can always be debates about who’s “the best.” The PSG full-back undoubtedly deserves his place among the elite.
We can only hope that he doesn’t let up, which doesn’t seem to be on the cards. It will also be crucial that he stays in Paris for as long as possible; we can be optimistic about that.
