Having arrived in the 2023 summer mercato from Inter Milan, 30-year-old defender Milan Skriniar has not made the move to Paris Saint-Germain. His contract expires in June 2028, and he has been loaned out to Fenerbahçe for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. He has bounced back well and there has been talk of a permanent move to the Turkish club this summer. On Friday evening, after the 1-4 victory over Besiktas in which he scored a goal, the Slovakian spoke very clearly about his future.
“I want to stay at Fenerbahçe.”
A short, but particularly clear statement. Skriniar is happy at Fenerbahçe, where he has regained his confidence and regular playing time. This will involve a new loan or a permanent transfer. We’re expecting the latter. In any case, his intention is clearly not to return to PSG. Which is logical, given the extent to which he has been sidelined. Moreover, we suspect that Paris is in favor of a transfer.
All that remains is to reach an agreement between all parties. Fenerbahçe may want to keep him, as he has performed regularly since his arrival. But agreement on the price is not always straightforward, and a possible stalemate is possible. Not to mention attempts by other clubs. Nevertheless, Skriniar’s willingness to work with the Turkish club is a great asset.
