Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, sent a letter to all the club’s employees after Saturday’s 2024-2025 Champions League final victory over Inter Milan. A superb 5-0 scoreline, which made history by winning the competition for the first time. Naturally, he’s very proud. And the will to keep moving forward.
“These last few days will be remembered as a major milestone in the history of Paris Saint-Germain. I wanted to take a moment to personally thank each and every one of you. On May 31, 2025, at 9pm, for two hours, the world of soccer and sport turned its attention to the UEFA Champions League final.
The performance they witnessed was not the fruit of an instant, but the collective culmination of hard work, commitment, passion and unity from the entire PSG family, including our players, coach, sports advisor, sports department and staff.
This success also belongs to Paris, France and French soccer. (…) While we should celebrate this moment and it’s a great step forward, it’s by no means the finish line. We will continue to develop, with humility and ambition. By working together as one team, we’ll go even further and achieve our long-term goals.”
Here, Al-Khelaïfi is in line with his speeches since the victory. It’s obviously a great moment to savour to be able to lift this prestigious trophy. It’s an immense reward for the work accomplished over many years, as well as the recognition of world soccer.
But it shouldn’t be seen as an end in itself. Rather as a solid foundation, almost a springboard, for many more fine years to come. PSG’s development has been impressive, and the club can look forward to a long-term place among the world’s elite. Even if it will be impossible to win every Champions League, Paris is a serious contender every year.
But that’s not going to happen by itself either. Both at sporting level and in the other sections of the club, the work must continue. This is not the time to relax, even if we mustn’t forget to enjoy the moment.
