Mathieu Le Scornet, 42, a renowned French soccer technician, will officially join Paris Saint-Germain on July 15. Interviewed in La Chronique Républicaine, he assures us that he will occupy a key role in the PSG academy, as a technical relay under the direction of Yohan Cabaye (38), with the mission of boosting the training of young Parisian talent.
Le Scornet “This technical relay will be me. “
“I went through a series of interviews with PSG: the first was to introduce myself, the second to find out more about the position and how to respond to the various tasks entrusted to me. And a third to finalize my plans for the position.
In the general sporting organization chart, there’s the president, the sporting director on the professional side, Luís Campos. Then there’s an academy sporting director, Yohan Cabaye. Below him, he’ll have two support staff: one administrative and one technical. I’ll be the technical one.
Le Scornet “serving the club in terms of promoting young players and team expression”.
A real recognition when you arrived at PSG?
Yes, recognized by my peers in some way. Joining a club as prestigious as PSG is first and foremost a source of pride. When I look at the project as a whole, I realize that I’m in one of Europe’s top 5 clubs, just three hours from home.
I’ll be able to fully express my qualities and skills to serve the club in terms of promoting young players, expressing the team whether it’s U17s, U19s or U23s.”
The arrival of Mathieu Le Scornet at Paris Saint-Germain marks an important step in the structuring of the club’s academy. Following a series of in-depth interviews, the former Stade Rennais No.2 is set to take up a strategic position, reporting directly to Yohan Cabaye, the club’s sporting director for training. His role will be to ensure technical coherence between the various youth teams (U17, U19, Espoirs) and to enhance internal promotion, a priority axis of the Parisian project.
For Le Scornet, joining a club of PSG’s European stature represents professional recognition and an opportunity to put his skills to good use in developing future talent. His experience and vision should help to breathe new life into the club’s training policy, at a time when the success of young Parisians is more than ever at the heart of PSG’s ambitions.
