Marco Asensio, Paris Saint-Germain’s 29-year-old midfielder/attacker under contract until 2026, failed to fully establish himself with coach Luis Enrique. So he was loaned out to Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024-2025 season, but was not retained by the English club. After his return, we’re waiting to find out what his future holds. Fenerbahçe have been the talk of the town, but La Gazzetta dello Sport claims this Wednesday that Inter Milan are joining the race.
The whole thing is relatively credible, as Asensio remains a talented player who could do a lot of teams good if he rediscovers his regularity. A club and its coach may well believe in him. Even a place at PSG wouldn’t be totally out of the question, even if it now seems to be a thing of the past.
The Spaniard has failed to seize his chance, to fully fit into coach Luis Enrique’s philosophy. A departure is therefore expected, and several destinations are on the cards. Inter Milan would be a great way out for him, with a potentially important role in the team’s renewal.
However, this is just a rumour. Inter may have other priorities, and so may Asensio. Not to mention that a deal is far from guaranteed, even if it does seem possible. Let’s wait for more certainty.
