On Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 0-3 against Brest in the ninth round of Ligue 1 2025-2026 at the Stade Francis Le-Blé. Here are the highs and lows of this victory.
Highs –
Achraf Hakimi.
Of course, a defender’s job is first and foremost to defend. The 26-year-old right back did that rather well. But above all, he created a lot of danger and scored twice in the first half to get his team off to a flying start. You have to take advantage of having one of the best players in the world in your position.
No goals conceded.
PSG have been very fragile lately and finally managed a clean sheet. Even if it was a close call with a penalty for Brest. This can only be good for confidence, especially in defense and for Lucas Chevalier, who needed it. We love the spectacle, but solidity is never just a detail.
Warren Zaïre-Emery decisive.
The 19-year-old midfielder continued to show that he is back in form and even added that little something extra that is sometimes missing: offensive threat. He did so with a beautiful assist for Désiré Doué. This can only be positive for the future.
Lows –
The endless VAR.
On the penalty awarded to Brest, it took several long minutes to make a decision that seemed fairly obvious after watching the slow-motion replay. There was even a corner kick awarded after the initial discussions, and ultimately the referee went to review the footage and decided on a penalty. This is detrimental to the pace and entertainment value of the game.
