This Friday at 7pm (CET) Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face Rennes (6th) at Roazhon Park as part of the 22nd matchday of Ligue 1 2025-2026. In a press conference, Rennes coach Habib Beye spoke about this match and their Parisian opponent. A special match for the man taking over as interim manager following the dismissal of Habib Beye (Franck Haise is expected to arrive next week), who will be leading his second Ligue 1 match as head coach.
Tambouret: “This desire to show a different image, something different for the club”
What state did you find the squad in on Monday, after replacing Habib Beye?
“I definitely sensed a squad affected by the recent results, frustrated with the image they’ve projected, and above all, eager for revenge. And that was evident as soon as we stepped onto the pitch, as soon as the ball touched the ball, with this desire to show a different image, something different for the club, for themselves, and also for the fans.”
Tambouret: “To be organized in just a few days, you have to be clear, precise, and simple.”
Compared to what was done before, do you plan to maintain a similar system?
“There will be an organization, but more than the organization itself, it’s the energy and the mindset we’ll bring to it. It’s about understanding that, alone, we can’t expect much. However, together, united in attitude and behavior, here at Roazhon Park, supported by the fans, we’re capable of troubling anyone. After all, when you play PSG, the best team in France, especially the European champions, you can’t afford to improvise.
We’ll have to be organized. To be organized in just a few days, you have to be clear, precise, and simple. But these are also the kinds of things the players like. They have frustration, they have this feeling of wanting revenge. So, today, the goal is to use that as fuel to put it at the service of a performance, without forgetting, also, to be able to remain clear-headed. Because I think PSG will pose a lot of problems, but the solution will be found on the pitch.”
Facing PSG at home, Stade Rennais will undoubtedly be eager to bounce back. In front of their fans, it’s always important to put on a good show, and against a Parisian club that just handed their rivals a 5-0 thrashing, it will be both difficult and crucial to put on a good performance. While things haven’t been perfect under Habib Beye, Stade Rennais remains a skillful and dangerous team.
The Parisian club knows this; they will have to be very cautious and display their best form against this vengeful Breton side. Just days before their return to the Champions League, PSG needs to boost their confidence. In terms of points, they also can’t afford to drop any, at the risk of being overtaken by RC Lens.
It’s a rather special evening, and Tambouret must do his best to try and pull off an upset. At least the pressure is lessened by the fact that his place in this match isn’t at risk. But the desire to see the club progress is certainly there.” Holding Paris to a draw could be a resounding victory. Luis Enrique’s players need to be fully focused.
