The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) met this evening to decide on the various sanctions to be imposed following recent matches in French professional football. Among the topics discussed was Gonçalo Ramos, the 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker who received two yellow cards during last Saturday’s 3-0 victory in Angers (Ligue 1 Matchday 31). He was therefore due for an automatic one-match suspension, and the LFP decided to maintain this sanction without adding a second match.
One match suspension and one match suspended
Gonçalo Ramos (Paris Saint-Germain)”
This is not surprising, as there was no particular malice or danger in Ramos’ actions. However, he deserved his cards, which will therefore not be rescinded. Unfortunately, this means he will miss the home game against Lorient this Saturday for Matchday 32 of Ligue 1, in the middle of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich (5-4 in the first leg, second leg on Wednesday, May 6).
As a reminder, Ilya Zabarnyi (23-year-old defender) is also suspended for this match. This is due to an accumulation of yellow cards, with the sanction not being applied immediately, unlike a red card.
