Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain, was at a press conference this Saturday before facing Lens at Stade Bollaert tomorrow (kick-off at 8:45 p.m., CET) as part of the 2026 Champions Trophy. On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke on PSG TV.
Enrique “If you want to continue winning you have to make changes”
A new back to back with the European Super Cup, are you proud of this team?
“It’s clear. It’s very important to win trophies but above all I’m happy with what I want on the pitch. Every match is different. But what we can see in this desire to play football is very important. It’s not about winning. It is to play with our idea and the intention of playing authentically and respecting the values of sport. It’s a beautiful message that we want to convey.”
How do you always maintain this desire to progress and win?
“Everyone thinks that when you lose and you want to win, you have to sign new players. But it’s more important to do that when you’re winning. You need to find players with new ambitions, new dreams. If you want to continue to win, you have to make changes. Sometimes difficult.”
Enrique “There will be a lot of offensive and defensive situations”
What type of finale can we expect?
“There is definitely a difference when you play a final. If you score first, the opponent will be forced to attack. There will be a lot of offensive and defensive situations. Everyone will try to score and it will be much more open, in a stadium with a lot of atmosphere. You have to be ready for anything.”
