Maghnes Akliouche, the 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain and France national team midfielder/forward, answered questions from the media this Thursday at the PSG Campus. It was an opportunity to open up about his summer transfer from AS Monaco and what he aims to achieve in Paris.
Akliouche: “The coach is asking me to adapt and bring mobility. I’ll also be learning step by step.”
How did the signing come about?
It was a team effort. I want to thank the president, Luis Campos, and the coach for their trust. My role now is to settle in well, improve, and perform on the pitch.
When did discussions really pick up?
There are always discussions with agents, of course. But that’s in the past; I’m a PSG player now, and the goal is to win matches.
What is the coach asking of you? How are you feeling?
I feel good, and things will get even better. The coach is asking me to adapt and bring mobility. I’ll also be learning step by step.
Is the goal to play the way you did at Monaco, or to play in various positions?
It’s about playing my game, adapting to this team, and—quite simply—being myself.
Akliouche: “It’s a source of pride to be at PSG.”
Will the match against Monaco be special?
It is special; it’s the club where I was trained. I have nothing but great memories. It represents my youth—a wonderful part of my life. I’m happy to be facing Monaco again.
You’re also from the Paris area; what does it feel like to play for PSG?
My time at Clairefontaine was a crucial part of my development. It’s a source of pride to be at PSG.

Was Paris the only place you wanted to sign?
Yes, exactly. When I heard about PSG’s interest, I wanted to come. I am very happy and proud.
What is your goal?
We’ll see; for now, the goal is to settle in and perform well. I need to adapt to what is required.
Akliouche: “It doesn’t matter; I adapt.”
What is different compared to Monaco?
A lot of things. I spent almost 10 years at Monaco. It’s new to me, but I’ve adapted well and I’m happy.
Do you prefer playing on the right or centrally?
It doesn’t matter. I feel good on the right, and in the middle too. It makes no difference; I adapt.
