Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City faced off this Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium for the second matchday of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase. The encounter ended in a 4-2 victory for the Parisian side. Following the match, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca spoke to TNT Sports.
Maresca: “It was tough after conceding two goals so quickly.”
How would you sum up the match?
We started well, right up until the first goal. Then came the second, which created a negative feeling. In the second half, we were much better and deserved more.
What were your thoughts at halftime?
It was strange. Once again, up until that first goal, we were doing quite well and hadn’t conceded any chances. It was tough to then concede two goals so quickly. We made some adjustments at the break, and in the second half, we created enough to deserve more.
What did you change?
We adjusted our pressing and how we used the ball. Things had felt a bit odd before that, though—all because of those goals. We lost our balance.
Maresca: “We were unlucky.”
Could you have won in the end?
Honestly, I think so—even with the three goals conceded. We created enough to deserve more. We were just unlucky.
Do you need to be more clinical?
Yes, absolutely—and you also have to avoid losing your balance.
