In the second round of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to face Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium, securing a 4–2 victory. Speaking to PSG TV, 29-year-old Parisian forward Ousmane Dembélé reflected on the win.
Dembélé: “We’ll take the positives.”
“We handled the first half very well; we played fluidly and quickly took a 2–0 lead. In the second half, we eased off a bit, and Manchester City pushed quite hard. But tonight, we’ll take the positives.
In six days, we have another big match against FC Barcelona, who have the same number of points as us. But first, we’ll prepare for the game in Strasbourg this Saturday, and then we’ll see.”
It was a fantastic win for the Parisians, who were in complete control this Wednesday. An away Champions League fixture is always a challenge for any side, and facing Manchester City made the task even tougher. Ultimately, PSG managed to gain the upper hand in the opening minutes and extended their lead throughout the remainder of the first half.
Although there was a slight drop in intensity during the second half, the victory is the main takeaway from this Wednesday. The upcoming home match in a week’s time will also be pivotal—and highly compelling—as it features two of the most in-form teams at the moment.
