Victor Osimhen, the 25-year-old striker under contract to Napoli until 2026, was rumored to be close to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer mercato, but the deal was never finalized. Instead, the Nigerian international went on loan to Galatasaray at the last minute. He took advantage of this to shine again, and is once again being talked about by PSG, in particular, this winter. Turkish coach Okan Buruk responded to the rumours with Fanatik.
“Our president and managers say the same thing”.
“Everyone wants Osimhen in their team. When I was told about Osimhen, I immediately said ‘okay’, I didn’t think twice about it. Of course, I’d like to receive Osimhen’s transfer fee, but we shouldn’t talk about that all the time.
He’s happy here too. I don’t think it’s fair to put pressure on the player in this process. There’s an economic dimension to it, and it’s not right for the player to frequently raise such issues. It’s too early.
We’d like to buy him. Our chairman and managers say the same thing, but it’s important to leave the player’s mind at rest while the season continues. Osimhen wants to be with us until the end of the season.”
At the moment, there’s absolutely nothing to suggest a transfer to PSG this winter. A move that some media outlets are talking about as if it were rather easy, when in fact it’s looking very complicated indeed.
It’s always difficult enough to reach an agreement between two clubs, and here we have a loan to Galatasaray. Possible clauses are mentioned, but not confirmed. The player is also not necessarily in a hurry to leave a team in which he regularly shines.
At least the message is clear here, which should keep the rumours at bay for a while. Even if we know that the media can be stubborn.
