A sold-out Stade de l’Abbé Deschamps was the setting for AJ Auxerre’s match against Paris Saint-Germain on Friday December 6th, the 14th day of Ligue 1. A goalless draw (0-0), thanks in particular to Auxerre goalkeeper Donovan Léon, voted man of the match for his many decisive saves. He spoke to DAZN after the match about his performance:
Leon: “I feel a lot of pride because I’m a big PSG fan too”.
How do you feel after this match?
I’m feeling a lot of pride because I’m a big PSG fan too. I had a good game against Marseille, now I had to do the same against Paris. And some nights it’s like that, but tonight I’ve been rewarded and that’s good for the whole team.
Did you get off to a good start?
We always say that for a goalkeeper it’s the first few balls that are decisive. The save I made on the header already put me in the game. After that, you have to pay attention and I’m rewarded for that.
Was there a moment when you felt untouchable?
A goalkeeper can make some fine saves. And in the end, you can quickly be punished. I stayed focused as much as I could. When Vitinha hit the bar, I told myself that nothing could happen to me tonight.
