Gérald Baticle, coach of the Espoirs, was in a press conference and was full of praise for Désiré Doué, Paris Saint-Germain’s 19-year-old all-rounder. For him, nothing happens by chance.
Baticle “He’s becoming a top-level player, with top-level performances”.
“He has a lot of potential and has put a lot of things in place. His club has enabled him to gain confidence, grow in stature and become more effective in his game. He’s removed anything that might have been superfluous, by being efficient. He has become a top-level player, with top-level performances.
Baticle: “He’s broken new ground by proving his professionalism”.
He’s gone a long way in proving his professionalism. Even if, at the start, many people thought his integration at PSG was difficult, he had the intelligence to take all the information he was given and, with the qualities he has, that led to performances. We’ve seen him perform well almost every weekend, and now he’s arriving in the A team.”
Doué has achieved what he came for. He has personality and knew that with Luis Enrique he would progress. But between being able to progress and actually doing so, there are often difficulties. Gifted struggled at first, having to absorb new concepts, but he’s now ready to the point where Didier Deschamps had no choice but to take him on in March.
Professionalism, but above all intelligence in the game and, above all, the ability not to become outdated, are what have enabled Doué to gradually become an important player for PSG this season. There are still some great things to come, with Paris and now with Les Bleus. We’ll judge at the end of the season, but it’s extremely promising.
