Maghnes Akliouche, AS Monaco’s 23-year-old attacking midfielder, has been tipped by the media as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s targets for the 2024 summer mercato, but has extended his contract (from 2026 to 2028). However, PSG are still interested in his future. L’Equipe reports this Tuesday that the player is indeed tempted.
“Except that discussions are not progressing.
“For several months – the club had already tried in January – Paris Saint-Germain has never broken off contact with Akliouche. Luis Campos has even been able to talk to the Frenchman, notably about his change of agent. In the intimacy of the dressing room, the winger has repeatedly said in recent weeks that he could see himself playing in Paris next season. Except that discussions are stalling.
A huge difference in price.
PSG are not prepared to go to any extremes to sign the Monegasque, and the asking price set by ASM (€80m a few weeks ago, closer to €60m today) is considered too high by Paris, who do not wish to exceed €50m for the time being. Above all, Luis Campos has repeatedly told his various contacts over the past few days that Paris will not be piling on the players next season.”
A rumour that will add further attraction to this dossier, which promises to be a turbulent one in any case, given that Monaco have opened the door to a departure this summer. And perhaps PSG will be part of the race. However, we’re still a long way from certainty.
PSG’s interest is just a rumour, as is the player’s. He could be tempted by a move to Monaco. He could be tempted by a move to Paris, a tempting step for his career. But other options are also conceivable. Especially as the Parisian club may not take action.
There’s no magic with the mercato, so we’ll have to wait for certainty. Akliouche may or may not be a concrete possibility.
