Axel Tape, the 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain-trained defender whose contract expires this summer, has been rumored to be on his way out of PSG at the end of the season. RMC Sport‘s Fabrice Hawkins claims that a first professional contract is no longer on the agenda for the Parisian titi. German and English clubs are pushing for his signature.
“Axel Tape will not be signing his first professional contract with PSG.
Bayer Leverkusen are well positioned to take him on. Tottenham are also pushing to sign the versatile 17-year-old.”
Let’s be careful not to get carried away. We can see the fans crying foul. Firstly, we know very little about the player’s development and his ability to perform at the highest level at PSG, where places are at a premium.
What’s more, nothing is set in stone at the moment, and even if it is, PSG may have perceived some major shortcomings. We mustn’t over-analyze all this and give ourselves time to see how the club intends to move forward in the future.
