The 2025 summer mercato isn’t open yet, of course, but it’s already underway, so rumors about Paris Saint-Germain still arrive from time to time. This time, PSG Inside Actus has confirmed that Paris wants to make an offer to Club Brugge, which includes its defenders Joel Ordoñez (central, 21 years old and contracted until 2028) and Maxim De Cuyper (left-back, 24 years old and contracted until 2028).
“Paris Saint-Germain are currently fine-tuning an ambitious transfer market offensive targeting Joel Ordóñez and Maxim De Cuyper, two young hopefuls from Club Brugge. According to my sources, the Parisian club is planning to submit a grouped bid to secure the services of these two promising players this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain would like to combine the two dossiers in a single negotiation in order to offer Club Brugge an attractive overall sum, while reducing the risk of outbidding. This strategy would also enable both players to make the leap together, facilitating their integration.”
A relatively credible announcement, given that PSG’s interest in De Cuyper has been mooted for some time and that the interest in Ordoñez was announced yesterday by Foot Mercato. Paris can at least try to position itself for these two defenders, who meet what appear to be “needs” for this summer. A competitor on the flanks and a strengthened central hinge at a time when Presnel Kimpembe (29) is struggling and there are doubts surrounding the return to form of Lucas Hernandez (28).
This has been achieved by recruiting talented youngsters who have yet to prove their worth, and who have the potential to establish themselves among the best. There’s also a certain aggressiveness and ease with the ball to match the project with coach Luis Enrique.
Be warned though, these are just rumours. There’s nothing concrete. It’s logical that PSG should be preparing for several possibilities, but it’s difficult to know what will or won’t move forward. It also depends on the other clubs and the players involved. There could be a concrete offer for both players, just one, or none at all. The same goes for an agreement, which is never easy to obtain.
