Paris Saint-Germain officially clinched the 2025-2026 French league title on Wednesday night with a victory over Lens in a rescheduled match from Matchday 29 of Ligue 1. Now, the celebrations must be organized, which is proving difficult given that a street party with the traditional bus parade is out of the question. The event is now expected to take place this Sunday during the match against Paris FC (Matchday 34), under special conditions. This has been confirmed by Le Parisien, while a parade from the Jean Bouin stadium to the Parc des Princes, just 50 meters away, has also been refused by the police prefecture.
“According to our latest information, which confirms that of L’Équipe, organizing a pre-match ceremony is being considered. ‘There might be something, but an hour before the match,’ confirmed a source within the Paris FC management.”
The ceremony, subject to approval by the police prefecture, would therefore take place as the players enter the pitch before warming up, in a new and somewhat limited format. No podium would be set up on the field, and the trophy could be presented in the section reserved for the Rouge & Bleu supporters (which has a capacity of around a thousand seats).
Perhaps PSG will finally know how to celebrate their league title, at least minimally. While not a resounding achievement in the club’s history, it shouldn’t be overlooked. But what we see most of all are constraints that the other parties are unwilling to easily overcome. This small ceremony is better than nothing, but it’s still regrettable that this little something is so difficult to achieve. Winning the Champions League will be necessary to have a real celebration in Paris again.
