This Wednesday, September 25, the French press (on the sporting side) focused on very little on the Paris Saint-Germain side, with only former Parisian goalkeeper Sergio Rico (31) expected to sign in Qatar for Al-Gharafa. Instead, attention is focused on an increasingly busy schedule, following further serious injuries at the weekend (Rodri at Manchester City/Arsenal pictured) and players threatening to go on strike.

As we all know, players earn astronomical salaries that are far from the reality for many. So it seems a little inappropriate to complain about having to play soccer too much, when there are obviously more dangerous (and important to the functioning of society) jobs out there.
However, they are still human beings. Physical injuries have a real impact, as do psychological problems. Their profession must not make us forget this. They also have a right to be listened to, and more and more players are reporting serious problems. It’s going to take real discussion and reflection to find the right balance.
As for Rico, it’s good to know that he’ll be able to get back to soccer and his career after this terrible accident, which has left many fearing that he won’t be able to wake up.
