Paris Saint-Germain and Brest faced off this Tuesday at the Stade du Roudourou Arena as part of the Champions League 2024-2025 return play-offs. The match ended in a 7-0 Parisian victory (video highlights PSG/Brest,10-0 overall). After the match, Brest midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou spoke to Canal+. He was dejected, even though he stressed that there were positive aspects to the Brest team’s performance that should not be forgotten.
Lees-Melou “it’s a bit shameful.”
How do you feel about it?
It’s tough, we knew it was impossible. We knew it was impossible, we knew we’d miss out on the character and honor of this competition. Frankly, we were very disappointed and it’s a bit shameful to go out like that. We could have gone out with a bang, given how far we’ve come, but this scoreline is a bit heavy. I don’t hold any grudges and I hope they go all the way, but to lose 7-0 is bordering on professional misconduct.
Lees-Melou: “We mustn’t forget what we’ve achieved.
Is tonight deserved?
Deserved yes and no. I think we could have scored one or two goals in both games. Their qualification is richly deserved, but 10-0 over the two games is still a heavy burden to bear.
What are the reasons for satisfaction?
You can’t erase everything. We would have liked to go out the front door. Now we’re going out the back door. You can’t write off our performance, because nobody was counting on us. Qualifying was already beautiful and magnificent, but we’re still going to have that little bit of bitterness.
