This Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) take on Olympique de Marseille (2nd) at the Parc des Princes for the 26th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 8:45pm, broadcast on DAZN). With 2 days to go, L’Equipe reports that the Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) is preparing a special tifo.
“The CUP is planning an “imposing” tifo, reminiscent of the rivalry between the two clubs, using warlike imagery and vocabulary.
The ultras’ tifo will extend into the “Paris” stand.
L’Equipe”
The CUP is used to putting on big tifos for important events, including the reception of OM. We’re counting on the PSG supporters’ group to have another great preparation.
There’s no doubt about it. The questions are more about the risk of a sanction (match stopped and possibly lost) if ever the messages sent by chants or banners are considered inappropriate. This rule has been in place for several years in French soccer, even if other stadiums have been able to “get away with it”.
But as it was launched after the chants at the Parc des Princes, we suspect that it will be closely observed again, with authorities (and possibly politicians) ready this time to be moved and to hit back hard.
