This Saturday evening, Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 (video highlights PSG/Reims) against Reims on Matchday 19 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 at the Parc des Princes. Here are our top and bottom picks from the draw.
Tops –
Kvaraskhelia’s debut
We weren’t expecting a revolution, but it’s always exciting to see the first games of recruits of this calibre. He was pretty good, not yet totally in the rhythm, but he was partly responsible for unlocking the match with Dembélé’s goal.
Dembélé continues to be decisive
He scores (we’ll see if the League gives him the nod) and that’s great. We know that strikers need to be more decisive in this kind of match, and he’s getting better and better at it. PSG can also count on his consistency this season; he’s the player who makes the difference.
Flops –
The game after… (Manchester City)
You could have wagered on such a scenario. The Parisians were rinsed out and didn’t show the same enthusiasm as last Wednesday. The rotation didn’t help the team settle into the game. We found ourselves back in fairly sterile possession, with some forward play, but very average movement in the box. The head was probably already in Stuttgart.
Ramos/Lee/Beraldo
Ramos failed once or twice, that’s his role, he needs to feel the shots better. Lee needs to play forward with more personality, which he all too rarely does. Finally, Beraldo often finds it difficult to defend one-on-one, and tonight it showed. When PSG don’t have their best players – Hakimi, Dembélé (present tonight), Marquinhos, Neves, Vitinha (on the bench), Barcola as a substitute – you can see that everything is more difficult. It’s good to be able to take a breather, as PSG have plenty of room for manoeuvre in Ligue 1, but be careful.
