On Sunday evening, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 1-0 victory against Brest in Matchday 33 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season at the Parc des Princes. Here are the highs and lows of this win.
Highs –
The title is practically secured.
The most important thing is the 3 points. We all know that saying, and it applies perfectly tonight. A win was essential to maintain their 6-point lead over Lens, and a 15-point advantage on goal difference, before the final two matches. Mission accomplished, and it shouldn’t be underestimated.
Désiré Doué finds the breakthrough.
Against a defensive Brest side and in a PSG team somewhat lacking in creativity, Désiré Doué made a welcome impact off the bench. By constantly creating danger, he even scored a beautiful goal that secured the win. A performance that counts.
Renato Marin.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper made his second consecutive Ligue 1 start and delivered a solid performance, showing some impressive saves and character. It’s very encouraging for the future.
The new kit?
PSG took advantage of this match to unveil their 2026-2027 home kit with its “retro” style, and it seems to have been a great success. At least it looked great in the stadium and on television, with excellent visibility. But we wouldn’t want to force this positive opinion on those who might be less convinced.
Lows –
A lackluster attacking trio.
Lee Kang-In (25 years old), Bradley Barcola (23-year-old striker), and Gonçalo Ramos (24-year-old striker) clearly didn’t shine. Playing a more “textbook” style of football, they didn’t make enough of an impact. We have to give them credit for not making it easy with a large rotation, since the midfielders and full-backs didn’t help perfectly either.
