This Saturday, October 10, Paris Saint-Germain (6th) face Le Mans (9th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 8:45 PM, CET) in Matchday 6 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. As before every match, here is a look at the Parisians’ opponents.
Le Mans’ Situation –
After establishing themselves in Ligue 1 from 2005 to 2010, Le Mans went through a very turbulent period. Following sporting failures and an inability to win promotion back to Ligue 1 despite significant investment, the club faced financial liquidation and was relegated to the DH (the French 6th division at the time). They had to fight their way back up, eventually returning to Ligue 2 in 2020. Subsequently, they had to contend with the impact of Covid and another relegation before climbing back up the ranks.
In 2025, Le Mans earned promotion to Ligue 2 again and reached a major turning point in 2026 when the Brazilian sports investment fund OutField became the majority shareholder of Le Mans Football Club. Other major sports figures followed suit, including Thibaut Courtois, Novak Djokovic, and Felipe Massa. A far cry from the collapse 15 years earlier, the club has maintained its momentum and successfully returned to Ligue 1 this season, enjoying a strong start in terms of both performance and results.

Le Mans’ playing style.
Le Mans does not aim to dominate possession. Instead, they look to press at times and always attack quickly. The focus is on rapid transitions and striking as soon as the opportunity arises.
It would be surprising to see a tactical shift against PSG, though the Parisians will clearly need to be wary of losing the ball to avoid being caught out. However, Le Mans might play a deeper defensive line than usual to avoid leaving dangerous gaps. Yet, a bold approach at the Parc des Princes is also a possibility, given that the newly promoted side arrives in Paris without the burden of pressure.
