On Wednesday, in the second leg of the 2025-2026 Champions League playoffs, Paris Saint-Germain faced AS Monaco at the Parc des Princes. Maghnes Akliouche, the 24-year-old attacking midfielder for the Monegasque team, stopped in the mixed zone after the 2-2 draw which secured PSG’s qualification (5-4 on aggregate).
Akliouche: “We have things to correct.”
A lot of disappointment?
Yes, of course. There’s frustration, naturally, because we had the ability today to clinch qualification. We’re proud of both matches; we’re happy with what we did. We have things to correct, including the red cards.
Akliouche: “We have to learn from these kinds of matches.”
A lack of intensity at times?
Intensity, I don’t think so. I think that, of course, the red cards in both legs hurt a lot. It’s almost 90 minutes with 10 men. Naturally, we dropped back. But we stepped up in a huge number of areas.
We can be proud, of course, even though we’re competitors and there’s frustration. We have to learn from these kinds of matches. We’ve shown that we’re capable of great matches against great teams.
