On Friday at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-3 to AS Monaco in Matchday 25 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. As we now do after every match, we asked our readers to vote for the best PSG player of the game. Matvey Safonov (the 27-year-old goalkeeper) won.

It’s doubly significant to see the goalkeeper chosen. It’s rarely a good sign for the team as a whole if the last line of defense is singled out, especially for a dominant team like PSG. Furthermore, he conceded three goals. Safonov can’t do much about that, but even with a few good saves, one might hope that other players would shine.
However, the Parisians disappointed both collectively and individually, with no one truly standing out. Bradley Barcola (23-year-old forward) earned a few points with a goal, a shot that didn’t look particularly good and was deflected. Ilya Zabarnyi (23-year-old defender) acquitted himself well with some good interventions and clearances, but was far from dominant.
Let’s hope we see a more convincing PSG soon. This will be crucial against Chelsea on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie (return leg on Tuesday, March 17).
Thank you for your votes. As a reminder, the top three finishers from each match are then used to determine the Player of the Month.
