Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco faced off this Friday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 3 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. The match ended in a 1-2 defeat for Paris. After the game, Monaco coach Filipe Luis spoke to Ligue1+.
Filipe Luis: “That’s why I’m so proud.”
You must be happy?
I am very happy with my players and very proud to have won. It is very difficult to play against PSG; they are very, very high-level players. They are the best team. The best coach, too. They are aggressive, and it’s hard to know how to attack and defend against them. That’s why I’m so proud.
What did you say to your players?
Well, I thought we were playing well. I told them that PSG might drop back a bit. We needed to press harder, and we did that quite well on our end. I tried to instill confidence in my squad.
Filipe Luis: “PSG were slow to get going”
Were you playing much higher up the pitch in the second half?
Yes, that’s true, in certain situations. PSG were slow to get going, and in the second half, we were perhaps better than them. It’s true that my players linked up very well; there was a great connection, good pressing, and we were more precise technically. We were better with the ball in the second half.
What pleased you most: the result or the discipline?
Everything is important; the result is crucial, but since I’ve been here, I’ve had many ideas and a specific playing philosophy. I want the team to be competitive and able to rise to this kind of challenge. I am happy because we have had very good results since the start of the season.
