Here’s our saga. The 5 good reasons to follow a match (with some adaptations). We’ll take a look at what’s attractive before each match, with a mix of seriousness and humor. Mind you, this is by no means an exhaustive tour of the subject. We continue here with Paris Saint-Germain’s match this Saturday against Lille (4th) at the Parc des Princes as part of the 24th day of Ligue 1 2024-2025 (kick-off 9.05pm, UTC+1).
5 – Enjoy.
PSG are in great shape at the moment, but this will no doubt come to an end one day. No club has found a magic formula to make the team happy every match. So let’s enjoy it while it lasts, with collective effort, intensity and attacking play. Beware of disappointment in the event of a slip-up in this match, even if there’s a feeling that the Parisians are off to a flying start.
4 – More of a spectacle match.
Between PSG and Lille, there has often been great intensity and plenty of goals in recent years. We can only hope that this match respects that habit. Especially as both teams are attacking again this season. In fact, the score was 1-3 last September.
3 – More points to score.
An almost “type-team” is taking shape for PSG’s big games, but the competition never stops with coach Luis Enrique. Some players are particularly keen to get started, or at least have the longest possible start, in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.
These include Gonçalo Ramos (23-year-old striker), Désiré Doué (19-year-old midfielder/attacker) and Khvicha Kvaratkshelia (24-year-old striker). It should be quite a spectacle.
2 – The race for the title.
We often forget that the Champions League is just around the corner, but Ligue 1 is also of real importance, and we need to move as quickly as possible towards the title. It’s true that we’re already 13 points ahead. But that’s no reason to delay. Especially as it could be interesting at some point to be able to turn the team around with complete peace of mind.
1 – European match before Europe.
All eyes are on Liverpool, as they prepare for the first leg of their Round of 16 clash with Borussia Dortmund. However, this PSG/Lille match is also a great European encounter: Lille will also be playing in the Round of 8, on Tuesday against Borussia Dortmund. There’s nothing easy about it, and rotation is possible, but it’s already got a nice European flavour.
