The draw for the Round of 32 of the 2025-2026 Coupe de France notably produced a match between Vendée Fontenay Foot and Paris Saint-Germain. The National 3 side cannot host PSG in their 3,500-seat stadium, and a solution had to be found. The Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes was considered. Le Parisien confirmed this choice on Wednesday, along with the date and broadcast details of the match.
“After a long day of internal discussions and discussions with public authorities, the management of the amateur National 3 club (French fifth division) opted for the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, just over 100 km away. The match will take place on Saturday, December 20th at 8:50 pm and will be broadcast by BeIN Sports.”
Nothing is impossible; we can’t imagine the Parisian newspaper being so precise without reason. There’s undoubtedly a solid basis for it. It also makes sense that the match is being held at the Beaujoire stadium, a beautiful venue for this game, which should attract fans and football enthusiasts.
However, it’s regrettable that the match is scheduled for Saturday evening, given that PSG will be in Qatar on Wednesday, December 17th, to play in the Intercontinental Cup final. A Sunday match seemed feasible, but there might be a good reason for it. Perhaps it would allow everyone to enjoy the evening without having to work or school the next day.
