Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 25-year-old goalkeeper who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 with a contract running until 2026 (following the end of his own at AC Milan), is regularly called into question by fans and observers alike. Even so, an extension is under discussion, but it’s proving rather difficult. His agent has even spoken of a “stand-by” situation. L’Equipe now claims that discussions are planned.
On Wednesday, the sports paper reported that Donnarumma’s “future is on the dotted line, and he has several meetings scheduled with a view to reaching an extension with his club”.
We remain cautious, as discussions do not produce results and, what’s more, these meetings are nothing more than a rumour at the moment. However, Donnarumma has made it clear several times that he wants to stay at PSG. So it would be strange if he didn’t at least hold talks about an extension.
An agreement could well be reached, with Paris having no reason to seek the departure of one of the world’s finest goalkeepers. But you never know, there are sometimes surprising blockages and the club could have a precise plan with another keeper. Let’s wait and see.
