Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille faced off this Sunday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 21 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. The match ended in a 5-0 victory for PSG. After the game, Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi spoke to Ligue1+.
De Zerbi: “We’re going to talk to understand.”
How do you analyze the defeat? The same pattern as in the last two matches, how come it didn’t work out this time?
Because it’s just a rough patch. We put in some good performances against Rennes and Lens, but the rest has been a disaster. I’m sorry for the fans. We’re going to talk to understand; the performance is painful. Especially in Paris, the way we played.
Was morale affected before the match?
No. I’m not inside the players’ heads, I don’t know. We prepared for the match as best we could. But clearly, we didn’t prepare well. We need to understand why. Why we played like that in Bruges, and here too. And why it was different against Lens and Rennes.
De Zerbi: “When so many players aren’t doing enough, there are no regrets.”
Regrets about your choices?
No, because I don’t think there’s much to salvage from this match. When so many players aren’t doing enough, there are no regrets.
What were your words to the players?
There’s no need to speak. We need silence, to look inward and think that we could have done better.
