This Friday, in Matchday 3 of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain faced Monaco at the Parc des Princes. Filipe Luis, the Monaco manager, spoke at the post-match press conference following the 1-2 result. He reiterated his praise for PSG and his counterpart Luis Enrique, just as he had before the game.
Filipe Luis: “PSG isn’t in top form.”
What made the difference?
We tried to press them very high up the pitch early on. They managed to play around the press because they have quality, but we kept at it. PSG isn’t in top form. At halftime, we made some adjustments regarding our play with the ball, and the players understood. We created a few chances, managed to score, and turned the match around. After that, we had to be brave—we had to run and defend—and we did just that.
Filipe Luis: “He’s one of the best in history.”
We saw you chatting with Luis Enrique; is it a source of pride to win at the Parc des Princes?
For me, he’s not just the best coach in the world; he’s one of the best in history. I admire the way he conducts himself with his players and the way he coaches his teams. It’s a huge pleasure just to play against him. So, to beat him… that’s a great honor for me.
One can only appreciate Filipe Luis’s admiration and sportsmanship, even if it doesn’t bring a win for the Parisian side. That is something the Monaco manager can certainly take pride in and savor. His squad displayed great solidarity, clinical efficiency, and the ability to execute razor-sharp transitions. That is undoubtedly a positive sign for the future. To put things in perspective—and the Brazilian remains very humble about it—Monaco was dominated by PSG in this match. That is hardly surprising, given the quality on both sides. Moreover, while some will undoubtedly blow this defeat out of proportion, it is interesting to see the opponent acknowledge the full extent of Paris’s strength. That said, Paris does only have two points—seven fewer than ASM. It is time to start getting results and moving forward.
