Luis Enrique, coach of second-placed Paris Saint-Germain, held a press conference this Friday ahead of their 2025-2026 Ligue 1 match against 12th-placed Brest at the Stade Francis Le-Blé tomorrow (kick-off at 5 p.m., CET). On the sidelines of this event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV. He discussed Tuesday’s victory against Bayer Leverkusen (Champions League Matchday 3), as well as his approach to the match against Brest.
Luis Enrique: “I’m mainly thinking about our players, about who can play, and less about the opponent.”
What was decisive in the match against Bayer Leverkusen?
When you see the difference in the result, no one remembers that it was 1-1 with 10 players against 10. There are details that are actually very important in every match. We then scored three goals in 10 minutes, and that made the difference.
Three Ligue 1 matches in one week. What’s the most important thing when working in such a tight league? Does it help Europe?
It’s a bit like last year. Everyone says it’s easy, but it’s not. Right now, I’m thinking more about our players, knowing who can play, and less about the opponent. There are always complications posed by the opponent, but the most important thing is knowing who’s ready and how long each player needs to play to be fit while avoiding health risks.
How do you imagine this match?
Against Brest, whom we know very well, no match there is easy. We know that well. We know their qualities. We have to be ready, attentive. We’ll have to be at a very high level to win; that’s our goal, as usual.
