RC Lens played host to Paris Saint-Germain this Saturday at 5pm, on the 18th day of Ligue 1. A match broadcast by beIN SPORTS, in which the Reds and Blues struggled mightily, probably with their heads already set on Manchester City, and in which they came away with a late 1-2 victory. Racing midfielder Adrien Thomasson took time out after the match to reflect on the bitter defeat:
Adrien Thomasson: “If you can’t win it, you shouldn’t lose it”.
Is it logical to be disappointed by this defeat?
Yes, I think we had a game plan in place. Especially in the first half, we were lucky to open the scoring. In the second half, the equaliser hurt us, but we stayed focused and had other opportunities to score the second goal. But we didn’t, and then we got that goal 5-6 minutes from the end, which is really frustrating. We’re going to have to learn from matches like that, because it’s not the first time since the start of the season, and if you can’t win it, you shouldn’t lose it.
Is it a question of efficiency?
After that, I think it’s in both areas, because if we didn’t manage to score the second goal, we should have tried to keep the score. A point wouldn’t have been a bad thing, especially against a team like that. We need to keep going and learn.
A great Donnarumma in the final minutes?
Yes, we came up against a very good keeper. You have to give him credit. You have to give him credit today, but we would have preferred to score an extra goal to make us feel better. We had our chances. We need to keep working.
